First a bit of wisdom:
This is the final resting place for hundreds of people, and has been for a great amount of time. People still are interred here, and relatives of the passed do still come to visit their departed loved ones. This place means a lot to a great many people, so please don't be a jerk! Don't break the law, don't vandalize, don't do weird things and trash this property! If you can not be respectful, then don't go here!
We actually should not have been on this property we found out later, but had been told by a great number of people and groups that it was ok to enter after dark, just don't make a ruckus or cause problems. Well, the place closes at like 4:30 PM or something, and after having traveled a good distance to visit this place with the assurances that it was ok, we went ahead and entered.
Legend
has it that the ghost of a long dead caretaker walks the
grounds, children's spirits can be heard and seen, and light
anomalies abound. Some of this is correct, others we did not
witness. We did get some unusual photos featuring strange light anomalies, and EVPs, most of which only made sense when played backwards.
I accompanied Brandon and Adam there from SIPA, and this being their gig, I pretty much went with them. Brandon and Adam are extraordinary people in that while skeptics, they aren't deranged to the point of making up ridiculous assertions to try and disprove stuff. The want to believe, but have an extraordinarily high burden of proof, much like we do, and I'm happy to work with them whenever I can.
The rest of our group was unable to attend, this being a week night with most having school or work the next day, and a location is 50 miles or so from our base. It was also a last minute thing, so changing schedules was not encouraged nor expected.
It was a little over 40 degrees when we started, and dipped to about 37 by the time we left. I was dressed in shorts, much to the horror of Brandon, who was in multiple layers of clothing. The cold doesn't bother me a lot as I can put it out of mind, but apparently it bothers Brandon quite a bit. Brandon said "...and you're in shorts? Are you crazy! Ahh! the only thing that would be worse is if you were in sandals too!" This was in response to my teasing him that a man of Irish extraction (I'm a little bit, the rest Nordic) should have no problem with damp, cold air. I don't think he really appreciated the irony. However, by the time we left, I felt frozen solid. 37 degrees, walking through cold, wet grass is not my idea of a great time.
