Wow. That's all I can say, is wow. Not very
interesting to read, but true. We will, none the less, try and
flesh this out for you.
This event was called "Mystics and Science," because that's what
it was to be about, that which the sensitive folks from our
group and other groups got working together, followed by trying
to prove or disprove it with science. On top of all that this
was to be webcasted with our new equipment, but just like
anything untried (by us) before, there were gremlins... ugh.
Gremlins galore... This event should have been named "Slip and
Fall, Ouch."
Let's start with the person who knows this tech cold, co-founder
Justin. He's worked with these systems for years, and was going
to be handling the set up and operation of the CCTV systems
while teaching Chris, but he had never webcasted before. It's
pretty seamless to webcast through ustream, so it was just a
matter of making sure the equipment worked, then send the stream
to the net. Easy.
Justin had to work this day and would be late. Ok, off to SIPA's
Brandon the equipment went the morning of the event. All set,
right?
Nope...
Upon testing, Brandon discovered that only one camera at a time
would work out of the 4, so he devised a clever system of camera
switching. Purely brilliant. This altered how we would shoot the
event but we could deal. What's the catch? It had to be an 32
bit XP operating system. Brandon told Steve this, and Steve had
a tower lying around running this system, so he brought it over
to Brandon's and Brandon would outfit the computer with a wifi
hook up.
Well, that didn't work either, so Brandon called up the Rialto
Historical Society and asked if we could tie into their system
with a hard line. No problem, they said, and Steve had brought
along 75 to 100 feet of Ethernet wire just to be safe, so we're
out of the woods, right?
Well, no...
So we enter the building when Rich gets there and begin
feverishly setting up. lots of work, not much time. Hundreds of
feet of cable running to the 4 remote cameras, wires running
from the adjacent building for the Ethernet connection, a jury
rigged mobile, wired live camera for the stream had to be
created, computer set up and logged in, and this all got done in
record time thanks to the crack troops! So we're sneaking up on
show time and it's time to log in! Ok, here we go! Everybody's
been briefed on how this is working, we have a to the minute
schedule, and show tim..........
Nuh uh...
After all this, so many people hours, so many miles traveled by
so many people, cell hours used, time burnt scheduling,
arranging, planning, kaboom! It's all for naught, because for
some weird reason the computer and network will not recognize
each other!!! This is the same system we use to broadcast our
radio show to three network servers!
We worked on connecting to the internet for over an hour after
show time was to begin, then phoned up someone to pout a "Sorry,
no show, technical difficulties" notice up on facebook, etc, and
decided at that point to continue straight ahead with the plan
we had to film regular video, just an hour later.
Ok, what did we find?
Well, on the subjective end using the four sensitives (but not
Steve) we found that the little girl in the window, though real,
isn't who people have been thinking she is.
We found that there is a very tall, dark, character with talons
that scared the crap out of Vanina and Deanne in the room behind
the balcony.
We found that there was something rummaging in the "telephone"
room.
The angry Victorian dressed woman is still in the Bride's Room,
and still wants to beat Steve up. She's still irritated at him.
And much much more... all coming soon.
Objectively what did we find?
Well, we did some odd EMF spikes, we ran video ITC but I'm don't
know yet what turned up on it. Brandon says he has a black mass
moving about on video, Steve caught a black mass in pictures,
but that's still dicey. We simultaneously disproved these
photos, then immediately found that we could not completely
disprove them because we could not duplicate any of the
circumstances by which we disproved the photos, nor the
circumstances in which to prove them!
There's a whole lot more coming as we review EVPs, photos,
video, etc.

This
is a unique and unusual place, not simply because
it's a historical society, and not just because it
happens to have regular visitors of the un-bodied
kind, but also because the main building is the
former "First Christian Church of Rialto."
We had the opportunity to visit this treasure with
Brandon and Adam from the Group with No Name, now
known as SIPA (Skeptical Inquiry of Paranormal
Activity), two really great guys who prove that not
all skeptical people are knuckleheads. The
difference is that they WANT to believe, but their
level of proof is much higher than most paranormal
investigators. As a matter of fact, Brandon
literally save our butts when we reviewed video
evidence from this location.
There was a shot from a static camera stationed in
the balcony at the back of the church watching the
church below. In this shot there appeared to be a
little blond girl in a blue dress who stepped out
from the back hallway, stood in the doorway for a
couple seconds, then vanished into thin air. We were
flabbergasted! I immediately sent the video clip to
Brandon. He called me back a couple of hours later
with bad news. "I know what's in that shot, and
you're not going to like it..." he said.
Pins and needles.
"What? What was it?" I nearly cried out.
"Well, here's the thing," Brandon continued, "the
things that looks like the head of the little girl?
It's my hand. At that level of light from that
distance it looks like something else, but it is my
hand. I brought a sack lunch with me, and I remember
reaching just in front of that door was and dropping
my lunch onto Adam's stuff. I came back later and
got it. The low level of light and distance caused
your camera to pixelate, using the arc of the
dropped sack lunch and it's motion to sort of
generate an image."
Talk about thunderstruck. No way, he's wrong I
thought, After I got off the phone with Brandon, I
played the video back time after time. On about the
5th replay it became apparent that Brandon was
right, and I, and everyone else who saw that video
was wrong. Thank goodness it was figured out before
it was published!
Also with us, Yussi and Vanina from Yussi
Paranormal, and Nick, Kelley and Natalie from PIOCLA
(RealDealParanormal).
There are stories about a little blond girl who
inhabits the building, years after her death from
leukemia, as well as that of vortices, and a
"Victorian Lady on the Stairs." The lady of
the stairs was disproved by Yussi and Nick, almost
by accident, but once they were on the right track,
they never let up until they solved the mystery of
the stairs lady. I didn't know it at the time, but
another group had also disproived this "apparition"
a couple of months earlier, showing, like we did,
that it was an optical illusion.
